In the center of their lush, green wood, the Lumen pack rest their heads. The forest floor is coated in soft, luscious grass, perfect for their sensitive paws. The Lumen are very fortunate to have a sunny, thick forest to live in. In the Base, small hollows in the forest floor allow comfortable, deep sleep for the wolves. A small shelter sits at the edge of the clearing, under a large shade tree. The Base overlooks the Lumen valley, thick with trees.

Frigid leaped around the base happily, being quite the little energetic ball of fur. He played around with a ball of clumped-together feathers as a toy, and skipped around happily with a lolling tongue. He had jumped forward to attempt to catch the ball of feathers to have them sink between his claws, but the breeze had managed to push the clump a bit forward, leaving Frigid in the dust it had seemed. The pup chased this toy until finally he had reached it, and had it successfully back in his paws. With a proud twinkle in his eyes, Frigid took the ball of feathers and launched it across a few feet again to start playing some more.

—ENTER FROM GENTLE BLUE—Aspen slunk into the Base, tired from her constant arguments with Alkemeir. It did not occur to her that she may smell of him. A weak smile stretched across the fae’s muzzle as she saw pυp ғrιgιd playing with the little ball of feathers. He was so adorably innocent, she thought. I bet innocent little Frigid doesn’t sneak off to meet the Alpha of another pack. He’ll probably grow up and love a beautiful Lumen fae, thought the Alphess, he will never be in my situation.Aspen shook her head. What was she thinking? She did not love Alkemeir. Do I love him?Aspen’s heart was racing. She was afraid. She could not let this happen. The fae needed to get her mind off of it. Trying to calm down, the she-wolf trotted up to Frigid. ”Hey Frigid! How are you today?”

The pup Frigid heard his name, and he flicked his ear as he swivel his head to look at whoever was talking to him. The pup lolled his tongue as he pounced for the feathers briskly, grabbing it into his jaws and lifting it up. "Oh, I was just playing ball!" Frigid replied happily. He started to growl playfully at the ball and shake his head back and forth. He paused, noticing the minor glum expression on Aspen's face, and dropped the ball at the fae, Alphess Aspen 's paws. He looked up, being only such a small little pup, and tried to look as innocent as possible as he asked, "Wanna play ball with me?"

Aspen smiled at the little pup. She leaned down to lick his forehead, not that she had to go very far, and nodded. ”Let’s play then!” The Alphess picked up the little clump in her teeth and tossed it in the air, bopping it with her nose. Then, Alkemeir’s words rang in her head. ”There’s no need for the Alpha to spring in and join.” Just to spite the other Alpha, Aspen decided to play as much as she could today. The Alphess would “spring in and join” all she wanted. The fae was her own, no other wolf would tell her how to lead her pack.

Frigid growled playfully again, and with a solid attitude he raced for the ball. The pup rolled and as he rolled back up he took the ball and rolled again, tucked together like a rolly-polly. He turns around in this position as if a wheel, and popped out with the feathers still in his mouth. The pup yipped, his attitude marked with success and looked up at Aspen and smiled. The pup then threw the ball into the air and bopped his nose with it the same as Alphess Aspen did, and threw it over into the fae's direction, letting her catch it this time. The pup dropped into a playful position and wagged his tail up in the air.

Aspen was surprise at the agility of small pυp ғrιgιd. She chuckled as he signaled playfully, returning the gesture. Catching the feathers in her mouth, she leaped over Frigid’s short body and landed gracefully, holding her head high and out of reach of the little thing. Aspen then threw the little ball back over his head to where she previously stood. Laughing, the Alphess circled back around in an attempt to confuse him. For the average sized wolf, there would be a huge advantage; for her, not so much. If anything, it was a disadvantage. Her heavy fur and short legs made her slower. The pup was quite the playmate.

As Alphess Aspen started to encircle the poor pup, Frigid growled playfully, and whirled around in circles, pretending to be after his tail. After trying to see if he could slow down Aspen, he suddenly leaped out and after the ball of feathers lying nearby this circle of pads. The pup then again tucked into a ball and latched onto the feathers with his teeth like he had done earlier, and rolled back into the center of what Aspen was doing. Frigid stopped rolling like a wheel and came out of this position, again chasing his tail with the feathers in his mouth still.

Aspen watched the pup go around and around. She was exhausted, but he did not seem to be. The older wolf collapsed in defeat, her tied legs thanking her for the rest. ”You win,” Aspen said between deep breaths, ”you defeated me.” Tossing her fur and reaching down to groom her paw, the Alphess was glad she had the opportunity to play today. It certainly lifted the stress of Tempastra border issues from her shoulders. Aspen thought of Alkemeir and his harsh words on her fun lifestyle. I bet he wouldn’t be so cranky if he got out and played every once in a while.

Frigid dropped the toy with a lolling tongue, and started to feel tired. All of that rolling really did make him tired. The pup padded his way and circled twice around in a tight circle and plopping his little butt by Alphess Aspen . He yawned and snuggled in closer for no real reason at all. After a few moments he sneezed and yawned again, starting to fall asleep. The pup thought about the little ball of feathers and tried to imagine other possible toys that he could make from the surrounding materials. How creative could a little pup be? They'll find out.

Aspen watched the little pup circle around and snuggle up to her. It was simply precious. When she heard pυp ғrιgιd’s little breaths steady, she leaned in to keep him warm. The poor little thing didn’t even have a mother to love him. At least he had a pack, she thought. The Lumen would love and take care of the orphan. Frigid had a good heart, Aspen observed. He was so lively and curious; he was almost magical! The little thing could get the Alphess, who was just lectured about her habit of playing with her pack, to play with him. Aspen carried the little bundle into a den, using her nose to push leaf mulch and moss over his body.

After being moved to a den, Frigid had fallen into an even deeper sleep. After racing around with Alphess Aspen, that had tired the usually energetic pup. All the pup could dream about was hunting. He imagined himself as a giant, sweeping his tail across the oak trees. The giant crouched down and sniffed the trees and their maple scent. The giant started to loll his tongue, which did look weird for an adult wolf, he realized. But this was still a dream, so it wasn't that important in that subject. The giant then out of nowhere grabbed up a squirrel, and gobbled it whole. The dream did not end there, but any more details would be rather boring, and yet exciting for a pup in need of hope.

Kemansi awoke from a short nap because of her day off. It was a miracle she even was able to sleep. She still couldn't believe she became Hunting Lead. As she awoke, she remembered, before she left the woods she double-checked for prey. Then she could hear voices. "Maybe once the weather gets better your territory will have more prey. And you should be greatful I lended some of my land to you."
Kemansi's eyes widened. She remembered! It was Alkemeir's voice, with the cold and rough tone. She shuddered, still a little terrified of the brute. ”I invite you into my home, Alkemeir, I let you drag my territory and prey through the mud, I try to help you with the youth of your pack, and this is what you do.” Alphess Aspen's voice. The fae shook her head. It could've been just a small meeting. Nothing else! She winced at the "lended my land to you" part. M-Maybe she misunderstood what Alkemeir said. She glanced outside, noticing just the fae going ahead and tucking in the pup. She clambered out of the den. "M-My Alphess! Uh..." Wait, she was a high rank now right? Do high ranks lower their heads..? "Good...Good day." She glanced to the side.

A kind smile formed on the face of the Lumen Alphess as Kemansi spoke to her. "Hello, new Hunting Lead!" She strode over and nudged the fae's shoulder playfully, absolutely beaming with pride. "There is a lot to do today. Come, I will show you your duties." Aspen flicked her tail to a shaded side of the clearing, where she picked a mouse from the food storage and put it before her to share. "I'm proud you're learning so quickly, Kemansi. High Ranks to not bow their heads, but rather acknowledge the presence of the Alpha or Alphess, like a nod or something." Kemansi had seemed uncomfortable when she had first slipped out of the den; perhaps she was sick.

"Ah--Okay." She would lie, staring at the mouse for a moment. Should she tell her what she heard? No, it'd be absolutely rude to say she basically eavesdropped on her! But she's a high rank now, isn't she? Wouldn't it also be her concern? No, whatever. Goodness knows, she might've just misunderstood what Alkemeir said. She looked up at Aspen, nodding her head in an understanding way. "Sorry, I'm..new to this?" Well no kidding! She silently regretted her stupid words. The fae looked at the mouse, and realized the fact of how hungry she was. She only ate a little of the owl, wanting to save it as much as she could. But being polite, she'd let her alphess eat first.
