This romantic, beautifully blue river looks like something out of a fairy tale. The water is still and the area is quiet. Stemming from the equally blue ocean on the shores of which the Tempastra make their home, Gentle Blue is surrounded by shrubs and soft dirt, beautiful places to rest. From the banks, the Altum and Tempastra borders are visible; the dark trees stand tall to the South and the jagged mountains stand taller to the Southeast.

—ENTER FROM TEMPASTRA BORDER— Aspen sat on the soft dirt banks of Gentle Blue, gazing into the beautiful water. She dipped a graceful white paw in, making soft ripples on the water. When she pulled it out, it was significantly cleaner than the rest of her body. Her pretty white fur had not been properly cleaned in a while. Motioning for Alpha Alkemeir to join her, Alphess Aspen splashed him playfully, trying to loosen up after the happenings of yesterday. She was glad to be with him; her pack was small and lonely. Aspen just hoped Kemansi was at the Base, or anywhere far from here. If she bumped into them, Aspen would just tell her the Alpha and Alphess were talking about alliances.

Alkemeir sat down by the water when he arrived, staring down at his reflection. He ignored her motioning, still staring at the beautiful water, quiet for a moment. All of a sudden, icy drops of water hit his pelt, making him flinch in surprise. He looked up, and glanced over. Alkemeir frowned, realizing suddenly that she wanted to play. "You're an Alphess, Aspen. Surely that's way too childish." He shivered at the cold of the water. "It's..cold anyways." What if one of her wolves found us? He thought of everything embarrassing that would happen. Then again, he hadn't washed his pelt in a long time. Alphess Aspen

Aspen sighed and lay on the bank, flicking her paw half-heartedly in the icy water. ”Alkemeir, you really are a buzz-kill.” The she-wolf got to her feet, shaking her paw off. She waded into the water, sitting and trying to clean her fur. ”So Alkemeir,” Aspen said between tongue strokes on her pelt, ”how are the youth of Tempastra? It seems that there’s a lot of opportunities to get into trouble with that territory of yours, and the recent storms.” The fae lifted her head to look at Alpha Alkemeir. Even though she was angry at him for killing her fun, she didn’t want to lose his companionship. ”Alkemeir, why are you so uptight? I think the youth of your pack would love you if you had fun. Loosen up!” Aspen made a mischievous face. ”I want my guest to be happy.”

"I am happy at the moment, Alphess Aspen." He hesitated for a moment. "The youth of my pack are doing very well, thank you, and they have enough fun by themselves or with each other. There's no need for an alpha to spring in and join." The brute shook his pelt, noticing how dirty it was. He sighed. "I suppose...I'll go into the water too." He got up, carefully dipping a paw into it. He tried not to flinch from the cold, to show to the fae he was strong. Then began to bring his whole body down into the water. He almost yelped at the cold that rushed through his pelt, but after a while it felt good.

Aspen smiled. If he wanted to believe that he seemed happy, that was fine. She noticed his uneasiness with the water. He did have a rather thin coat after all. The brute was having a bad couple of days, and she definitely contributed to that. Aspen fought with herself internally, just wanting to be herself for now, but the fae knew she should let Alpha Alkemeir have a happy moment. ”Alkemeir, how can you just hop into the water like that? It’s ever so cold!” The water was seeping through her fur anyway, she thought. It was kind of cold anyway. Not much acting was necessary.

"It's better than I thought it was." He mumbled, staring at the beautiful ripples of the water. It's so....blue. I guess that's where it got its name. He looked for a fish to find in it, his gaze flicking around for any chance of catching sight of one. He frowned. None were found. "Is your prey going? Even the fish aren't here." He poked around in some kelp and coral. Nothing. "That's odd. It's Spring." He looked up and around the forest, suddenly feeling unsettled. It was eerily quiet other than the two wolves. Alphess Aspen's new Hunting Lead could only find and owl. "My territory is bursting with life, as I've said many times before." (perhaps aspen could get jealous? then again he did just give her a piece of land)

Aspen looked at him with a fiery gaze. ”You wouldn’t understand, Alkemeir,” the fae spat, ”with your warm, humid, territory, with your lovely ocean that must be so beautiful in real life, your cozy dens of moss...” Aspen stopped the rambling there, tossing her fur and regaining her composure. The fae cleared her throat. ”Pardon me. It is just cold here.” Her pelt heated up with embarrassment as she returned to cleaning her pelt. Aspen liked Alpha Alkemeir, was very comfortable with him, but she still could not give away the weakness of the Lumen pack. She must remain vigilant.

Alkemeir's eyes widened in surprise from the sudden fiery tone. He started to get mad himself, turning defensive also. "My apologies, Alphess Aspen, for not knowing how cold your territory is." He'd return with a sharp voice. "Maybe once the weather gets better your territory will have more prey. And you should be greatful I lended some of my land to you." Honestly, he just did something nice and now she's complaining again? How much of his territory does he have to feed her? He shook his head, returning back to the shore of the river and shaking off the droplets of water from his fur.

Aspen’s long, thick fur bristled. ”I invite you into my home, Alkemeir, I let you drag my territory and prey through the mud, I try to help you with the youth of your pack, and this is what you do.”Aspen’s face grew hot. ”This is what you do when I compliment our territory, you walk away and treat me like a pup. Well, I’m not a pup, Alkemeir. Perhaps your old, aching joints prevent you from just turning around and looking at me, but I’m no pup. I grew up faster than you will ever imagine. I grew up the moment my mother’s heart stopped beating, okay? We are equal,” the Alphess spat, looking into Alpha Alkemeir’s eyes with nothing but pure fury, ”so stop acting like you’re above everybody.” Aspen’s chest rose and fell quickly, her heart still racing.

"You can't just think you're the only one who's had it rough! I'm misunderstood, some even call me evil." Alkemeir snarled. "I'm not an old hag like most of the youth of my pack think! Yes, I may be old, but not as old as you think. I'm not stupid, Aspen, I know you're not a pup, I know something happened to your mother, and mine did too." He stopped for a few seconds to calm down. "We all come from different backgrounds. Go ahead, think of me as always prideful, that I think I'm above everybody. But never assume I haven't had a rough life. Because clearly I have too, and now I have to take care of a pack with two young wolves that decide to leave in the middle of a huge rainstorm, and now one's lost. I gave you some of my land because I cared and was concerned about your pack's life, while so many bad things were going in mine."

Aspen’s pelt only got hotter. ”Stop putting words in my mouth, Alkemeir.” Aspen was appalled that Alpha Alkemeir would accuse her of implying his life was easy. ”I’m an Alphess, for heaven’s sake! I know life is not easy.” Aspen took a deep breath, trying to calm down. In a gentler voice, she said, ”Alkemeir, neither of us are doing good right now. We can’t break apart like this.” Aspen was still angry at him, but he was bigger than her. Fighting with him is betting on my own life. The fae knew she needed to be careful.

His ears went flat, sighing and looking down at the ground. "You're welcome for the land," He muttered, "I'll be leaving now."

Aspen felt her shoulders release. She didn’t realize they had been tense this whole time. The fae was sad to watch Alpha Alkemeir go. Aspen knew he couldn’t hear her, but her lips parted in a hardly audible “thank you”. She turned around, knowing it was pointless to stand and watch him. The fae did not know that her heart could actually hurt from something like this. Aspen enjoyed Alkemeir. Sighing, she forced her feet to move toward the base. —EXIT TO LUMEN BASE—
