Wolf Ranks:
Let's get started with the high ranks.
High ranks, (or HR's), are the most respected ranks in the pack. You cannot apply to be a HR, you must be selected. These include:
-Alpha
-Alphess
-Beta
-Delta
-General
-Hunting lead
-Retired
Here's a little bit about each one, and what they do.
Note: THERE DOES NOT ALWAYS HAVE TO BE BOTH AN ALPHA AND ALPHESS.
Alpha: The actually most highly known rank in the pack, (and the most powerful, along with Alphess), is the
alpha. The alpha is the dominant brute of the pack, more known as the leader. The alpha makes the choices of what to do, where to do it, and how.
Alphess: The Alphess is the dominant fae, usually the second-in-command of the pack, but it depends on who either founded the pack first, or was chosen first. The Alphess still has as much power as the alpha, but less respected.
Beta: The beta is, well, the other second-in-command. The beta's job is to take over if the Alpha and Alphess pass away. If only one of the Alphas passes away, the other is given the choice to resign or choose a new mate. The Beta usually helps out with the duties an Alpha does not want to do, or refuses to do. Sounds like a lame job, but is a very big honor, and duty. The Beta also gets a lot of respect.
Delta: You guessed it. Third-in-command. But the Delta's job is to also learn about the duties of a Beta, more or less, a Beta-in-training. The Beta's job is to teach the Delta of their ways, and get them prepared for an even harder duty.
General: The General is in charge of leading the soldiers. He or she gives out the orders of border patrols, and leads them into battle. A big responsibility, and a big honor. The General, along with the many others, deserves and gets a lot of respect.
Hunting Lead: The Hunting Lead is in charge of the Hunters. He or she is responsible of keeping track of food, and leading them to hunt. The responsibility increases much more when either a herd, migration, etc. of their certain prey comes into season. They have to keep track of were the prey is going, and when to attack at the perfect time.
Retired: These are the wolves who have given up their position and are usually living the last few years of their lives. The pack hunts for, protects, and loves the Retired. They are very respected and often get a say in the Alpha's decisions.
So those were the HR's. Ceremonies are held whenever a wolf ranks up, which includes tons of food. But enough of that, now onto the medium ranks!
The medium ranks, (MR's), are:
-Soldier
-Hunter
Not much, but a lot of wolves are in each rank. Here's a bit about them:
Soldier: A Soldier's life is dangerous. Soldiers are constantly on patrols to lookout for rogues and trespassers. These wolves are brave and strong, and are ready for a fight when it comes.
Hunter: A Hunter's life can also be quite dangerous. The Hunters aren't exactly as strong or big, but more swift and lithe. Hunters go off into the packs territory usually in groups assigned by the Hunting Lead, attacking prey to feed their pack.
Hunters live with each other, as well as the soldiers. The head of their dens are the Hunting Lead and General, respectively.
Lastly, any other rank is called an average rank, or an AR. These include:
-Messengers
-Guardians
-Healer
-Healer-in-Training
-Soldier-in-Training
-Hunter-in-Training
-Nursing/Expecting
-Pups
Messengers: Maximum 4 swift, strong wolves to carry messages to other packs. Messengers are usually also hunters or soldiers, because this keeps their bodies fit for running.
Guardians: These are usually the retired she-wolves. They take care of pups.
Healer: Uses natural herbal treatments to heal members of the pack. Maximum of 1 healer.
Healer-in-Training: A younger wolf training to be a healer. Max 1 healer-in-training.
Soldier-in-Training: A younger wolf training to be a soldier.
Hunter-in-Training: A younger wolf training to be a hunter.
Nursing/Expecting: Faes that are expected or nursing pups.
Pups: The young of the pack.
Your application must be written in 3rd person point of view and must be at least 100 words.
Good luck!
Love,
Aspen
